Description

Dracaena draco is a spectacular tree when mature, but only reaches maturity where it doesn't freeze, and is a very slow grower. Our advice, if you want to grow this tree, is to move somewhere warm and start young. If this advice is too late for you, you can grow it as a houseplant and pass it along to your children, with instructions to move to somewhere warm! Native to the Canary Islands, the plant is related to the #Agave#, and looks like one when young. At this stage, it's used as a houseplant. It slowly develops a thick trunk, making it look more like a palm. 

 Also called Dragon Tree, the 'dragon's blood' is the plant's thick red sap.
