Phoenix palms
Phoenix palms originate in the south of Europe, the Middle East, Northern Africa and the south of Asia. Although the phoenix family consists of 14 species, it is mostly known from the Phoenix canariensis, Phoenix dactylifera and the Phoenix roebelenii. The Phoenix dactylifera originates in the Middle East and is well known because of its date fruit. It is a common palm tree in many semi-arid areas nowadays. Phoenix roebelenii and Phoenix canariensis are famous for their ornamental value.
Phoenix palms like sun and warmth. They are well suited as an indoor palm (roebelenii) or as a potted palm (canariensis).
