Washingtonia
Washingtonia palms are a real eye catcher with its beautiful trunk and big, round leaves. This fan palm can be kept as a pot plant so it can be put inside during periods of cold. A fast-growing palm tree.
There are two species of Washingtonia palms: filifera and robusta. The filifera prefers drought but can handle some cold; robusta can withstand moisture better but is less cold-resistant. In addition, a hybrid of these two, filibusta, can also be commonly found. Both palm species originate in the south-west of the USA and the north-west of Mexico. Nowadays they can be found in many areas all around the world due to their ornamental value.
