Poncirus trifoliata
Hardy Orange is a very unusual shrub related to citrus. During the spring, white flowers appear before the glossy dark green leaves, with small yellow-orange fruit ripening in the autumn. Unlike most other citrus, the skin of the fruit of a Japanese bitter orange is soft and slightly furry, similiar to a peach.
Japanese bitter orange trees are winter hardy and very disease resistant. They are commonly grown as hedge barriers, as it has long and sharp thorns.
