Citrus meyeri - Meyer lemon

Citrus meyeri - Meyer lemon

Citrus meyeri, also known as the Meyer lemon, is a beloved citrus cultivar. It produces sweet and juicy fruit that - despite its name - aren't lemons but rather a hybrid of a mandarin/pomelo with a citron. It is named after the American agriculural explorer Frank Nicholas Meyer, who introduced the tree at the start of the 20th century.

They Meyer lemon has a compact growth and glossy leaves. Its fruit is round or oval-shaped with a thin peel that is yellow or green coloured. It tastes less acidic and more sweet than a lemon, similar to an orange. It is very suitable for usage in lemonades, cocktails, marinades and desserts.
