The carob tree is a special tree!
This evergreen with more or less round, shiny leaves produces fruits famously used for eating or partying with alchoholic drinks. And if that were not enough, the designation for the weight is expressed in carats. And its rarity makes this plant especially desirable.
Carob tree is called Ceratonia siliqua in Latin and it belongs to the Fabaceae family. Originally from Arabia, this plant is self-seeding and requires patience, because the seeds germinate for months.
Plant in a sheltered spot in the garden, or plant on a balcony or indoors. In a room with high humidity, the shrub grows best. Can outdoors eventually grow into a nice tree about 4-5 meters (12-15') high.
