De Sansevieria is een makkelijke, sterke succulent, die bijna overal kan groeien. De leerachtige, zwaardvormige bladeren hebben meestal een gemarmerde grijsgroene kleur en kunnen een witte of gele rand hebben. Hoewel deze plant weinig licht tolereert, groeit het beter in halfschaduw of in de volle zon. Zorg ervoor dat de grond tussen de gietbeurten door de kans krijgt droog te worden, vooral in de winter.
