Opuntia consolea - Prickly pear cactus

Opuntia rubescens Consolea is a prickly pear that is native to Latin American. The Consolea can best be placed in a dry and warm climate with low humidity and water. Its segments grow in a branching pattern and give this cactus its tough appearance. Be careful with their needles however. Opuntia consolea has - aside from the needles - glochids. These look like hairs but are in reality small, hooked needles.
