This plant is a non-spreading, dense, evergreen bamboo. It is an ideal hedging plant but works well as a solitary, too. It is extremely hardy and the soft, fine, dark green foliage make it a garden favourite. It grows to a maximum of 3,5m (10 feet) and is extremely resilient to pruning and replanting. It is ideally suited to moderate sun and requires only moderate watering (don’t waterlog the roots). The root clump can be split from time to time so that the two resultant plants can be replanted. Every spring, an new rush of culms will be produced, reaching their maximum height in a few short weeks.
