Chamaerops humilis Vulcano
A variant of one of Europe's only native palms, named after the Vulcano island off Sicily where it was reportedly found growing. Like the regular Chamaerops humilis, it is one of the most cold-tolerant species of palm, withstanding severe frosts. It is very popular in Europe.
Chamaerops humilis Vulcano prefers full sun in a well drained position, but seems to adapt well to shade and damp conditions, as long as the soil is not prone to waterlogging. It is probably the best palm to grow in a container where it can survive drought, wind, cold, heat and long periods of neglect!
