Yucca rostrata: Fantastic, strong yucca that is easy to take care of. Native to northern Mexico and western Texas. A beautiful Yucca that forms a large crown of blue-grayish green, narrow leaves, supported by a moderately tall, solitary trunk, clothed at least in its upper part in a dense skirt of dead leaves. The leaves can grow to roughly 50cm (1,6 feet) long and are quite stiff. A Yucca rostrata generally grows up to 4 metres (13 feet) tall.Yucca rostrata is well suited for the Northern-European climate. It requires little attention, as it is hardy to -20°C, as long as it is kept in a dry place and it has had time to properly root. Protect the crown of the plant against moisture. It can handle drought well, making it an easy to maintain plant. This yucca prefers a sunny but dry location. Keep the soil well drained for optimal results. It is best planted in sandy soil.

The Yucca rostrata is also called 'Beaked yucca'. The translation for rostrata is beaked was given to it due to the beak-like flower buds. The rostrata grows huge flower buds in spring, which grow above the ball-shaped leaves. The flowers are white coloured. This makes the rostrata an interesting sight to behold, particularly when flowering. It is suited for a pot as well, which works great for balconies.

Yucca rostrata Sapphire Skies: This beautiful variety of Yucca rostrata is just as hardy, but has a brighter blue colour than the normal Yucca rostrata. The leaves are often slightly shorter compared to the normal Yucca rostrata but have the same spherical shape.

Adult Yucca rostrata Sapphire skies grow large, white flowers in Spring. It is a slow growing plant that requires little maintenance in European climates. Blue beaked Yucca requires well-drained soil and prefers a sunny location. It is fully winter hardy. Well suited to be planted out in your garden or as a potted plant on for example a balcony.
Yucca rigida Blue Sentry:
Yucca rigida is in general a single trunked species, but occasionally it forms multiple trunks growing up to 4-5m (12-15 feet) in height. The beautiful light blue stiff leaves are 30-70 cm (1-2 feet) long and are 1.2 to 2 cm (1/2 - 1 inch) wide, but in cultivation they can reach 120cm (40") in length, ending in a stiff dark brown spine. The leaves are also lined with a yellow margin and very tiny teeth. Yucca rigida is only found in northern Mexico were it grows on rocky hill sides. At the edges of their natural habitat, Yucca rigida and Yucca rostrata grow together and natural hybrids occur in those areas. These are also very attractive and more frost resistant than the pure Yucca rigida form. Yucca rigida is an attractive plant but not as cold hardy as Yucca rostrata, it withstands temperatures down to -15°C.

Blue Sentry is a silver-blue variety of rigida, with a yellow fade at the end of the leaves.
