Description

Yucca glauca comes from the southern regions of Canada and the central states of North America down to Texas. It is probably the most widely distributed Yucca species and belongs to the frost-hardiest Yuccas.

Usually they are trunked plants and occasionally a short trunk up to 30 cm (1 foot) high is formed. Young plants usually have a single heart, up to 250 cm (7 feet) in diameter, and later numerous leaf rosettes can develop, especially after flowering. The leaves are up to 70 cm (2 feet) long, pale green or gray with white or green-white edges, numerous fine threads and short, piercing, brown tips. The inflorescence is up to 180 cm (2 feet) high, is not or only slightly branched, and bears numerous, fragrant, greenish-white, bell-shaped flowers up to 6 cm (3 inches) in size.
