This rainforest palm tree, native to Queensland in Australia, has a green-greyish solitary trunk that can grow 15 metres (49 feet) high and 15 centimetres (0.5 feet) thick. Ptychosperma elegans growns green, glossy leaves of up to three metres (10 feet). This palmtree is fairly well known for its ornamental value.
Keep Ptychosperma elegans well watered. Its natural habitat is the wet rainforests, so it prefers an equivalent amount of water. It grows well in both sun and shade, though if grown in full sun, make sure to keep the soil moist. It prefers richer, humus laden soils.
