Helleborus niger is a winterhardy plant that is famous for its remarkable flowerng period. Normal Helleborus flower during winter (from January until March), but the Christmas Carol variety of this Helleborus flowers from October until January. That makes it exceptionally well suited as a winterplant. These flowers are white of colour.
It is not neccesary, but old and ugly leaves can be cut off to be replaced with new, fresher leaves. If the plant experiences frost, it will start to hang. This hanging state is temporary - as soon as the frost is gone, it will return to its normal state.
