Metasequoia glyptostroboides is a strongly growing and deciduous conifer with a narrow pyramidal crown at first that becomes broad pyramidal later. After 20 years, it reaches a height of over 20 metres. The crown shape is conical and tapering. The habitat of Metasequioa glyptostroboides may be humid because it tolerates a high groundwater level. In the autumn, the leaves turn a brown colour and then fall off.
