This palm grows in open areas to aproximately 20m (60 feet) tall, and the trunk is used to build bungalows.
Fruits are blacks and ovoids when mature, seeds ovoids, germinate easily if fresh.
Not well known in cultivation, this palm is the most cold resistent of all Copernicias. It is easy to care for and doesn't need much light.
In its natural situation it's possible to see populations with grey and green leaves. Furthermore there are many known variations (ecotypes) in the form and size of the trunk or/and size and form of the leaves and petioles.
Habitat is Paraquay and Argentina, also some parts of Brazil and Bolivia
