This Northern American fir orginates from the Appalachians. It prefers the humid but well-drained soil on the higher altitudes of at least 1200 metres high. It is commonly found as a garden - and christmas tree but can also be found as a topiary.
Fraser firs have a grayish-brown trunk, horizontal brances with a conical-shaped top. The needles are arrranged spirally along the branches.
