Chamaerops humilis 'Vulcano'

A variant of Europes only native palm, reputedly named after Vulcano island off Sicily where it was supposedly found growing. Like regular Chamaerops humilis it is one of the most cold tolerant palm species, withstanding heavy frosts, and is very popular in Europe. The slightly thicker and lightly curled leaves make this plant look almost as if it has been painted.

'Vulcano'likes full sun in a well drained position, but seems also to adapt well to shade and damp locations where the soil is not prone to waterlogging. It is probably the best palm to grow in a container where it can survive drought, heat, wind, cold and long periods of neglect
Hardiness Protect below -13°c
Comes from Island of Vulcano, Meditrerranean
