Brahea edulis - Guadalupe palm
This is an excellent palm and quiet frost resistant. It is native to the steep, rocky
slopes of the Guadalope Island, off the west coast of Mexico. It grows to about 10m tall and is the only Brahea not to
have persistant dead leaves.
This palm is proving quite successful in our warmer winters, some Western European specimens having reached trunking size over 10 years.
Good sized established plants have been known to survive -6C and even to recover from lower temperatures.
However, the plant dislikes high humidity.
It is generally regarded as being the fastest growing Brahea, and once established and with greater size seems to
increase its resistance to cold
